Valentines Day Re-Mix

Valentines day 2010 was quite different for Mark and I. It was the first Valentines Day in 4 years that we spent together. Since we were going to be in Vernal for a family event, he brought me flowers Friday before we left on Saturday. They are beautiful and I forgot how much I love tulips...they're starting to possibly replace my desire for a poppy boquet.....

So Saturday afternoon, Mark made the 2 hour trek out to Vernal, UT with Mom Dad and I. Jenae and Chad were blessing their newest addition Miri Jane. The 3 day weekend worked well for traveling. Chad asked Mark to participate in the blessing of Miri along with the rest of the 'official' brother in laws and Grandpa Wyckhuyse. I blame the natural female hormones, but I got a little emotional watching all but one of my brother in laws stand up there in a circle and perform such a special ordinance together. Having Mark participate as well gave my mind the chance to wander and think about the day when he'll get to do that for our own children (VERY distant future of course). I guess it just makes me so excited. Lately certain things have become bigger realities to me as we are planning and talking about getting married in just a few months.

It was really fun to spend time with a good portion of the family. (We were missing the 4 Farfans and Brenda but at Jenae's house we still had a total of 19 people there.) The kids really loved playing together and especially with their Uncle Ian who always seems to be the favorite. However I think Ian has got some competition with the newest addition: Uncle Mark (my sisters have started to enforce the uncle part to his name now that we're engaged). SPencer particularly has taken a liking to Mark. Quite frequently he'll bring a book and plop down into Mark's lap and have him read to him. This took Mark by surprise the first time, but I think he's gotten used to it. Mark didn't really grow up around little kids so suddenly being immersed into a family with 9 grandchildren is quite the learning experience for him. Seeing him hold Miri who is all of 7 weeks was too cute. It was fun to help him hold her "just right" and trade off. =)

Anyways, here's a slew of pictures from this weekend....

Spencer hangs out with Uncle Mark....

Brock...this kid LOVES reading. He could read books for hours!
Uncle Ian reads with Spencer and Ella

Shelene I think this was Lilly?

"The Littlefields" (hehe)....as much as I like this picture..us holding a baby is just disturbing right now!

Miri Jane Jordan

Grandpa and Grandma Wyckhuyse (now Grandparents of 9)

The Jordans....

The Westover Crew plus Miri (don't be confused!)

Somehow we missed the Spencers picture with Miri, but I certainly can't forget to mention Cheriss and Chris. They were unable to stay overnight but they drove out Sunday morning and brought AMAZING lemon bars for dessert. Who knew gluten free crusted lemon bars could still taste amazing....Cheriss I think you are getting up to being able to compete with some other veteran sisters!

So you guys don't think you'll be having any kids in the next couple years!? Well, if you change your mind and decide to have them sooner you'll never, ever regret it! Heavenly Father holds a special place in his heart for his little ones here on earth...and you never really know the feeling until you have one of your own. :) Love you!

Oh Maryann, I'm pretty sure we'll have our first sooner than I make it sound. But we want to get me done with school first...that'll either be one more year, or 3 if I do grad school.
