Memory Lane

There is the classic saying that: "A diamond is forever". Women married for years still have rings that sparkle and prove this to be true. Well recently, I learned that unlike diamonds, chocolate is NOT forever.
I got this Hershey kiss from Mark for Valentines Day in 2005. It is/was solid chocolate on the inside. Until I left home for college, it was a dresser ornament. Since then, it's been in this "Mark box" I kept over the years of notes, pictures, movie tickets and other tangible memories we had together. As we've been trying to condense a few things as we prepare to move next week, we decided to try and combine his letters and pictures into my big shoe box of stuff. I threw out a plastic lei from a stake dance, a half-naked cupid guy that our friend (Vanessa) won from a claw machine years ago, and finally, this chocolate.

I love that I am married to my high school sweetheart. I love that we both saved eachothers' letters from his mission in notebooks with page protectors. I love how even though I sometimes run out of childhood stories to tell him , we always have 6 1/2 years of dating stories: mission, me away at college, and so many high school memories to recall. The chocolate he gave me over 6 years ago may not have lasted forever, but our relationship will.
