"Our house...in the middle of the block"

Most of you older generation will recognize the quoting of a classic song. Well, instead, our "house" is not only in the middle of the street but in the middle of the apartment block. That's what they call them here. When we look out the window, that's most of what you can see is apartment buildings near and far. There are some smaller homes that surived the communist era of relocating families to make more room for giant government builings and land but most everyone lives in apartments.
My roomates and i live in an apartment that actually belongs to someone else. The landlord's daughter or something is in the States. So we moved in this semester but still have their things to erm...decorate the house with. Here are some examples.

The bathroom door...in case you're curious as to what you can do in here.....allow a image to demonstrate. Our doors do not really close off any noise...or close at all completely. So if you're a shy "pee-er" like myself, you have to get over that real fast. I for one would like to suggest classical music or something that automatically plays when the door is closed.

The house just really says Catholic/Orthodox to me.....
It's not too bad. We just laugh at all the things that to most would seem horrible/ghetto. I feel like I'm living in a barbie world with a tiny fridge, stove (which we light with a match) kitchen table. We've yet to figure out our washing machind but after that, learning how to hang our clothes to dry (chonies included) will be nothing less than a blissful adventure.

I love how you're posting about all your fun adventures in Romania! Your apartment doesn't sound too bad at all. When my sister-in-law went, she made it sound horrible. I'm glad yours isn't! Grocery shopping sounds interesting there. I'm one who doesn't like to try new foods, so that would be hard for me, not knowing all their brands and stuff. I can't wait to read more about your adventures in Romania!! Love you!
